Chennai: With Suresh Raina skipping IPL 2020 due to personal reasons and being the only team to have COVID 19 positive members, the upcoming season might turn out to be an absolute disaster for Chennai Super Kings, with Harbhajan Singh also thinking about giving the tournament a miss.

Chennai Super Kings is the only team who are yet to start to practice. The team members are still in quarantine. Their mandatory six-day quarantine was extended to 14 days after 13 members of their contingent including two players – Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaikwad – tested positive for COVID-19.

The team is set to start training on September 4. This date is subject to the squad clearing two additional Covid-19 tests. Those who had tested positive last week are staying in a separate hotel and are not going to be part of these fresh tests. All other members of their camp tested negative in the first of the two additional tests, conducted on Monday will start training and the second test is scheduled for September 3.

Suresh Raina decided to pull out of IPL last week due to personal reasons. To make things even worse, veteran spinner Harbhajan is contemplating giving IPL 2020 a miss. According to reports in Insidesport, the COVID 19 cases in the yellow team, has left him worried. Harbhajan is due to join the team on Tuesday. But the situation with Chennai Super Kings currently has left him very worried. He may rejig his schedules or even decide to skip the IPL this year, a source close to the player said.
