Gokulam Kerala FC request PMO to intervene regarding FIFA suspension on AIFF

Kolkata : With AIFF being suspended by FIFA, the future of India along with Indian football clubs are under scrutiny. Gokulam Kerala FC became national champion to qualify for AFC Women’s Club Championship.

Ashok Kumar, CEO of Gokulam Kerala FC wrote to PMO office to intervene regarding FIFA suspension on AIFF to enable the women’s team to play in AFC Women’s Club Championship.

The team of 23 players practiced for 2 months for this championship, flew to Tashkent and got grounded. This deeply affects the physical and mental confidence of the players along with team management. They would have been facing Iran on August 23, 2022. The Asian Football Confederation sent a letter to the All India Football Federation stating that Gokulam Kerala FC is no longer eligible to take part in the AFC Women’s Club Competition 2022. However, AIFF has not sent any mail or letter to the club anticipating that the suspension might be lifted by FIFA within a couple of days.
