BCCI announced Gautam Gambhir as Head Coach on July 9, marking a successful end to Rahul Dravid’s stint.
Gautam Gambhir will take over as Indian Head Coach from Sri Lanka Tour later this month.
Along with Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathour, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip parted ways with the team as well.
It’s being reported that BCCI has given a free hand to Gambhir for choosing the coaching staffs.
According to Dainik Jagran, Gambhir has reportedly asked Abhishek Nayar and Vinay Kumar as Batting and Bowling Coach respectively.
Neither Nayar nor Kumar have served as the coach of any state or national team but have ample experience.
Nayar has plied his trade as Kolkata Knight Riders’ assistant coach and has received praise from all around for his work. Earlier this year, he and Gambhir worked together for the IPL outfit.
Vinay Kumar, on the other hand, has served as the bowling coach of MI Emirates in UAE’s ILT20 in the past.
Addition of this trio will be seen as a new ray of hope for the new era Indian team under Gambhir.
