With this being one of them, here’s to looking at the five most embarrassing defeats encountered by Manchester United, incidentally, all have five goal trails.

#Manchester United 0-5 Liverpool (2021) – Starting off the recent Manchester United was totally demolished by the Reds following a Mohammed Salah Hat-trick. Naby Keita and Diogo Jota were the other scorers of the day, who had scored as early as eighth and the 13th minutes.

#Manchester United 1-6 Tottenham (2020)- Tottenham Hotspurs might have a rough patch going on, but the previous year they absolutely routed Manchester United after Paul Pogba gave the side an early lead. Braces from Heung Min Son and Harry Kane along with goals from Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele were more than enough to put the Red Devils to shame at home.

#Manchester United 1-6 Manchester City (2011)- 10 years ago, a brace from Edin Dzeko and a goal from David Silva in the dying moments saw Manchester United get humiliated at the hands of derby rivals Manchester City, after a brace of Mario Balotelli and another of Sergio Aguero. Although Darren Fletcher did pull one for the United, the loss still remains in the minds of fans as a nightmare.

#Chelsea 5-0 Manchester United (1999)- Chelsea secured one of the biggest wins against Manchester United on October 3, 1999, when a brace from Gus Poyet, along with goals from Chris Sutton and Jody Morris and a howler from Henning Berg gave them a five to nil win.

#Newcastle 5-0 Manchester United (1996)- Newcastle United has also been one of the few teams to secure a win over Manchester United by a huge margin. Allen Shearer, Darren Peacock, David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, and Phillipe Albert all featured in the score as the Red Devils left with no points.

However, a loss with arguably the best player of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo was bound to hurt more than ever as was in the case against Liverpool this time. The loss had put, Ole Gunner Solskjaer in a hot seat and reportedly is going to be replaced by Antonio Conte.
