Kolkata: Former India skipper and current BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly has often been quizzed about a biopic based on his life. The Prince of Calcutta finally put an end to all the speculations and gave a green signal to his much-awaited biopic inspired by his glorious life as a cricketer.

“Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to say the name of the director now. It will take a few more days for everything to be fixed,” Ganguly was quoted as saying to News18 Bangla.

If reports are something to go by, Ranbir Kapoor is on the top of the list to portray Ganguly’s life on the big screen. Previously, reports came out that Hrithik Roshan will be playing the role of Ganguly in his biopic. However, he himself never made anything official.

According to reports, Viacom 18 will be producing the biopic. Shooting will start after the pre-production work is completed. The film is currently in the scripting stage and the production house had multiple meetings with Ganguly. However, the matter is still being kept confidential, the official announcement is still yet to come.

Bollywood has always loved making biopics on sportspersons starting from Mary Kom to MS Dhoni: The Untold Story to Azhar and 83 which is yet to release. Work is also underway on biopics of women cricketers Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami.
