Kolkata: The United States delivered a dominant performance in the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup quarter-finals, defeating Hungary 108-56 in Berlin to set up a semi-final clash.

The margin meant that the second half became something of a procession as far as the USA’s depth was concerned. Instead of the intensity dropping off considerably, the Americans maintained their ability to move the ball and attack the basket while replacing players.
Napheesa Collier was the highest scorer with 19 points and six rebounds as the Americans cruised to a victory, starting on the bench and playing only a small amount of time. Rhyne Howard was the second highest scorer for the USA with 15 points. Caitlin Clark added 10 points, 9 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, sparking the USA offense. The victory sends the United States into the World Cup semi-final and ensures their charge for a fifth consecutive World Cup title continues. USA Basketball have booked their place in the last four of the tournament after their win in the last eight. The Americans will take on the winners of Spain vs Australia in the semi-finals.
For Hungary, reaching the last eight was an incredible achievement, but their campaign comes to an end against the nation who proved why they remain the frontrunners to win the tournament.
