Porto: The Italian Champions Juventus stumbled badly in their UEFA Champions League campaign losing to FC Porto 1-2 at the Estádio do Dragão in the first leg of the round of 16 on Wednesday (February 18). Mehdi Taremi and Moussa Marega, the two strikers from the Portuguese side were on target while Federico Chiesa netted on for the Bianconeri.
Andrea Pirlo’s men got hit early as Rodrigo Bentancur made defensive howler inside his own box. Taremi pounced on the opportunity slotting it home. Despite dominating the ball possession, the visitors were unable create something out of it.
Marega extended the lead for the hosts shortly after the second-half resumed. The forward ghosted between the two Juventus centre-halves to meet Manafa’s delivery into box slamming it into the back of the net.
Porto showed great spirit going foward against such a star stacked side while keeping things tight at the back. However, Chiesa did got an away goal for the visitors but it wasnt quite enough to avoid the defeat. Juventus now have a tough task on their hands when host Porto in Turin for the return leg in March.
