Karachi: The ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) witnessed a scary moment as South African batsman Faf du Plessis, representing Quetta Gladiators, collided with one of his teammates during fielding on Saturday.

Du Plessis collided with Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hasnain while diving to stop a boundary in the seventh over of Peshawar Zalmi’s innings. The former South African skipper received a blow on his head when Hasnain’s knee hit him. Du Plessis soon after was shifted to the hospital for tests. Saim Ayub replaced Du Plessis as a concussion substitute.

Meanwhile, David Miller’s half-century guided Peshawar Zalmi to an emphatic 61-run win against Quetta Gladiators. He scored 73 off 46 balls and West Indian Rovman Powell provided an ideal flourish with a quickfire 43 off 19 balls.

On another scary development in the cricketing world, West Indies allrounder Andre Russell suffered a nasty blow on the head while batting for the Quetta Gladiators in the same tournament against Islamabad United on Friday.

The incident took place in the 14th over of the Gladiators’ innings. After hitting two sixes off Islamabad pacer Muhammad Musa, Russell went to pull a bouncer but misjudged the bounce and got hit on the helmet.

Being in a helmet, he survived briefly. After initial treatment on the ground, Russell resumed batting. He didn’t last long only to be dismissed in the very next ball. However, as he started feeling uncomfortable because of the blow, he was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher.

Chasing a target of 134 in 20 overs set by Quetta Gladiators, United’s openers Colin Munro smashed 90 not out off 36 balls to guide his team to victory. Usman Khawaja too was unbeaten on 40 as his side gun down the target in 10 overs without losing a wicket in the process.
