Copenhagen : Belgium beat Denmark 2-1 at Copenhagen, in a match which saw both the sides pay respect to Christan Eriksen and wish for his speedy recovery. Yussuf Poulsen scored for the Danish, but Thorgan Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne brought it home for the Belgians.
Elsewhere, Memphis Depay and Denzel Dumfries scored as Netherlands dumped Austria 2-0 to make their place in the Round of 16 as the winners of Group C. Whereas in Bucharest Ukraine secured their first win as they beat North Macedonia 2-1 courtesy the goals scored by Andriy Yarmolenko and Roman Yaremchuk
Neither of the teams, scored any further in the first half. After the restart of the second, super substitute De Bruyne found an unmarked Thorgan Hazard, who scored the equaliser on 54 minutes. The winning goal was scored by De Bruyne himself, with a low strike sixteen minutes later from an Eden Hazard layoff. This was De Bruyne first match since his facial fracture during the UEFA Champions League Final.
Austrian Captain David Alaba brought down Dumfries in the area, and the Dutch were awarded an penalty early on the game. Depay latched on to the opportunity as he converted from the spot to give his team lead on 11 minutes.
For Ukraine, Yarmolenko and Yaremchuk gave their team the lead in the first half on minutes 29 and 34 respectively. Ezgjan Alioski scored a goal for North Macedonia but fell short to secure any team points for his team.
Both the teams were desperate for a win as they lost their first match, Ukraine lost to Netherlands and North Macedonia to Austria. Pandev almost gave his team a hope on 39 minutes but the goal was ruled offside.
