Euro 2020: Dismayed Croatia fans watch Czech Republic tie 1200 miles away even with tickets

Prague: Croatian fans Sebastian Jagic Njare, his brother Simo and friends Domagoj Raljevic and Luka Vojvodic were utterly disappointed after they had to watch Croatia versus the Czech Republic Euro 2020 encounter about 1200 miles away even having the tickets.

The ardent supporters decided to watch their stars live in Glasgow and had even hired a private jet to fly 1300 kilometers to Hampden Park. On entering the Scotland territory, the pilot came up with the news of disappointment. He notified them that due to COVID-19 protocols, Scotland had imposed a regulation forbidding the entry of foreigners.

Finding no other way, the four supporters asked the pilot to round their way to Prague where they watched the entire game among the rival Czech fans. The match ended with both sides splitting the points after Ivan Perisic’s goal cancelled Peter Schick’s first-half opener.

Sebastian spoke about their discontent from the Czech capital to Croatian daily Zadarski, saying: “We rented a private plane to go to watch the Croatia-Czech Republic match in Glasgow.

“We already had tickets and were crazy with happiness, it’s a Czech company, and we got a discount – it was easier to agree with them than with our women to let us go. When we arrived over Scotland, the pilot told us that he had just been informed that we had to leave Scottish airspace because due to the pandemic, they were not allowing us to land and arrive,” he added.

The 2018 World Cup finallists Croatia are through to the Euro 2020 knockouts after defeating Scotland 3-1 in their last group fixture. England have also made it to the knockouts being the group toppers.
