EPL: Liverpool claim Merseyside Derby; City, Chelsea secure wins

Liverpool: In the Merseyside Derby, Liverpool thumped Everton by 4-1 as Mohamed Salah kept his scoring spree intact and scored twice at Goodison Park on Thursday (December 2). As for Manchester City, they edged past Aston Villa with a 2-1 victory.

Jordan Henderson gave Liverpool a lead on nine minutes.Salah scored his first of the night ten minutes later,doubling his team’s lead. Everton pulled one back on 38 minutes through Demarai Gray.

On the 64th minute mark, Salah reasserted the lead of Liverpool and Diogo Jota sealed the game in favour of Jurgen Klopp’s men on 79 minutes. With this win Liverpool are third in the table just a point behind Manchester City, who are a point behind Chelsea. All the three teams notched up victories.

Elsewhere, Ruben Dias and Bernardo Silva’s strike helped City defeat Aston Villa at their home. Both the goals came in the first half for Pep Guardiola’s men. In a pulsating Premier League fixture, Aston Villa gave a good fight to the defending champions.

The opening half of the game was dominated by City as they took a deserved lead on the 27th-minute mark through Dias’ strike. Silva doubled City’s lead with a superb volley in the 43rd minute. Ollie Watkins pulled one back in the second half, which was not enough.

As for table leaders Chelsea, they also had a edge over Watford in a 2-1 narrow win. Hakim Ziyech scored a second half winner to keep Chelsea atop. Mason Mount opened the scoring for the Blues on 28 minutes.

Although Watford equalised when Emmanuel Dennis strike went through the legs of Antonio Rudiger on 42 minutes. Ziyech scored the winner on 72 minutes hence keeping Chelsea on the top of the table.
