London :Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur registered a thumping 5-0 victory against Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday ( March 8) in English Premier League. With his brace, Kane crossed Thierry Henry occupying sixth place on the all-time scorers’ list.

Tottenham bounced right back on the track to reignite the hope for securing a Champions League spot, after an disappointing upset in the FA Cup against Middlesbrough. On the other hand, Everton are threatened of relegation.

Under the threat of Son Hueng-Min, Everton defender Michael Keane  scored an own goal to open the scoring on 14 minutes. Son then scored on his own just within three minutes, as Tottenham propelled like a well oiled machine against a very average Everton.

Spurs tripled their goal lead with Kane scoring on 37 minutes. Kane is now just one goal away from Frank Lampard’s fifth place on the top scorers list in English Premier league. Although this is the least of the concerns for the former Chelsea boss.

Everton have lost four of their last five games since Lampard replaced Rafa Benitez, with this the Toffees are just one point above the relegation zone. Sergio Reguilon, who was a half time substitute soon added the fourth goal as the final nail was placed by Kane completing his brace on 55 minutes.

“The top four has to be our ambition,” Kane said post the match. “We are not the finished article yet but the manager has had time to settle in and physically, I think we are in a really good position.

“We are in there and in the mix and we have to feel that pressure if we want to be a top team.”
