Leeds : Rishabh Pant smashed his 7th Test ton on Day 2 of 1st Test between India and England at Headingley, Leeds, however, England gave strong reply.
India ended Day 1 on 359-3 with Gill and Pant still at crease. The duo completed 209 runs partnership. Pant smashed his 7th Test ton with an innings of 134 (178), including 6 sixes and 12 boundaries.
Gill (147) and Karun Nair’s (0) wicket fell from other end meanwhile, Pant too was dismissed on 453. India saw drastic collapse after that, and were eventually bundled on 471 from 453-5.
Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue picked 4 wickets each.
Coming to Bat, England lost Zak Crawley on 4 runs. Ben Duckett (62), Ollie Pope (100*) notched 122 runs partnership, before Duckett was too dismissed on 126 runs.
Joe Root (28) too joined Pope for small innings but vital 79 runs partnership. Jasprit Bumrah picked his 3rd wicket of the day dismissing Root.
Pope with 13 boundaries went on to score his ton. The day ended on dramatic note as Bumrah gave bouncer to Harry Brook in which he was dismissed getting caught but was a no ball from Bumrah.
England ended the day with 209-3 with Pope (100*) and Brook (0*) still at crease.
