Kolkata: Newly Indian Super League entrants East Bengal is all set to sign Mizo goal machine Jeje Lalpekhlua from Chennaiyin FC, according to sources. This addition will boost the confidence of the side before the league and can turn out to be their best signing of the season. An official statement is expected next week.

The 29-year-old forward has a fair share of success in Indian football. Starting his career with Pune FC back in 2008, Jeje later joined Pailan Arrows on loan in 2010. Later in 2013, he joined Dempo Sports Club which gave him the recognition. In 2014, he joined Mohun Bagan and had a successful three-year stint at the club and won the I-League in 2014-15 season and a Federation Cup in 2015-16 season.

Jeje had been an important part of the Chennaiyin FC side since the inaugural season of the ISL. He helped his team to win two ISL trophies in 2015 and 2017-18 season and has been their all-time top-scorer.

In national colours, Jeje has scored 23 goals in 56 games but his troublesome knee injury has made things difficult for him as he missed out whole of the last season. He last appeared in the Asia Cup, back in January 2019. But now he is fit to play. No doubt this addition will be a huge boost for the Red-Gold brigade as they want goalscorers in their side and Jeje can be their perfect talisman for the upcoming ISL season.
