Kolkata : West Indies legendary All Rounder Dwayne Bravo replaced Gautam Gambhir as defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders mentor in IPL 2025.
Bravo has been an integral icon in IPL playing for Chennai Super Kings, bagging 4 titles with them and one of the highest wicket takers in IPL. He hung his boots from all forms of Cricket 2 days earlier after suffering an injury in his last CPL season.
Along with Kolkata Knight Riders, he will be mentoring the sister franchises of Knight Riders including – Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (UAE) in ILT20, Los Angeles Knight Riders (USA) in Major League Cricket, Trinbago Knight Riders (CPL), with whom he won multiple titles.
KKR CEO Venky Mysore said, “DJ Bravo joining us is an exciting development. His relentless drive to win, along with his vast experience and deep knowledge, will greatly benefit our franchise and players. We’re also pleased that Bravo will be involved with our other franchises globally, including CPL, MLC, and ILT20.”
DJ Bravo also expressed his enthusiasm for this new chapter: “I’ve been part of the Trinbago Knight Riders for the last 10 years in the CPL. Having played for and against the Knight Riders in various leagues, I have a lot of respect for how they operate. The owners’ passion, the professionalism of the management, and the family-like environment make it a special place. This is the perfect platform for me as I transition from playing to mentoring and coaching the next generation of players.”
Bravo has been CSK bowling coach in IPL 2023 , the year in which Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s yellow army bagged their 5th title.
The West Indies star was also the bowling coach of Afghanistan in ICC T20 WC 2024 & helped them to book semi final berth.
Having retired 2 days earlier, Bravo will look to groom young talents in Knight Riders franchises, and bring success to the team.
