Kolkata : In a Group B match, Emami East Bengal (EEB) begin their 131st Indian Oil Durand Cup campaign at VYBK with a goalless draw against the Indian Navy. East Bengal playing after almost two years in front of their home crowd, since they have register gheir entry in Indian Super League (ISL).

Emami East Bengal’s coach Stephen Constantine goes for a full Indian squad in the first half, which ends in 0-0. EEB came out with intent in the second half. Constantine bring on first and foreigner im the game Brazilian Alex Lima in place of Aniket Jadhav at the break. Skipper of the match Sumit Passi, creates the first chance of the half when his brilliant pile-driver from at least 30 yards. Constantine keep changing in the second half and brings midfielder Souvik Chakrabarti and Mahitosh Roy in place of Angousana and Amarjit Kiyam to infuse fresh legs in attack. However the match ends in a goalless draw. Harikrishna AU, the Navy’s midfielder is awarded the Man of the Match.

Earlier the day, Indian Super League Champions Hyderabad FC pull out a great show and dominate TRAU FC and wining the game 2-0 in Imphal. Halicharan Narzary in the 27th minute and Borja Herrera in the 52nd minute score for Hyderabad FC to seal three points.

Hyderabad FC will face Chennaiyin FC on the 26th of August and TRAU will face Army Red Football Team on the 28thof August. While Emami East Bengal will take the field next at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on August 25, 2022, to face Rajasthan United FC while the Indian Navy will be seen in action against ATK Mohun Bagan on August 31, 2022 at the same venue.
