Kolkata: Dum Dum Park Super Cup season II is a Tennis Ball tournament of 12 teams divided into two groups:- A and B, 6 teams in each groups, starting from December 23 to 27. This tournament is organized by Park Welfare Association. Where almost 180 budding cricketers from Dum Dum Park, Bangur, Kestopur & Shyamnagar will be battling out for the Glory.

Chairman of the tournament is Hon’ble Minister of Fire & Emergency service (Govt of W.B.) Sujit Bose, President is Rabin Ganguly, Secretary Biswajit Prasad and Board member of Dum Dum Park is Satadal Chatterjee.

The 12 teams that will be participating are – Devils, Quantum Thunders, Venom, Saina Warriors, Royal Knights, Indian Heroes, JK#11, Monotonous Cocktail, Lil Stars, Chargers, Super Lion, Stallion.

When asked about the tournament, Board member Satadal Chatterjee said to Sportslight Media, “The tournament is of 12 teams divided into two divisions, A and B, 6 teams in each divisions. 3 teams will be able to qualify from each division and will play super six. Then 4 teams will qualify at semi final, this is the format of this tournament.”

“Tournament will start from December 23 and end on December 27. The inauguration will be conducted by Sujit Bose. He is the chairman of the tournament. The secretary is Biswajit Prasad, president Rabin Ganguly. And on the opening ceremony we will be saluting the covid warriors like doctors and nurses with a trophy,” he added.

“Players from Shyamnagar, Dum Dum Park, Baguiati, Kestopur, Bangur, Lake Town will be participating. It is going to be big like a festival. It is a very prestigious tournament in Dum Dum Park, so there is always a very spontaneous participation among the players and others,” Satadal further added about the motive of this tournament.

“This is going to be the season II of Super cup. The name of the tournament is “Dum Dum Park Super Cup”. We had a lot of plans, this tournament was supposed to be held during March and April. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic we had to postpone it to December. Owner of the 12 teams bought the players by auction. The format that is maintained in IPL during bidding, we have also maintained the same format,” he concluded.

JK#11 & Monotonous Cocktail are the favourites for this year’s DDP Super Cup but other teams are also gearing up for the battle.
