Kolkata: Duleep Trophy, which is set to mark the beginning of India’s domestic season, is scheduled to commence on August 23.
The East Zone will take on the North East Zone, while the North Zone will lock horns against the West Zone in the quarterfinals on the opening day of the tournament in Bengaluru. The champions and the runners-up of the previous edition of the tournament, Central Zone and South Zone, will play the winners of the first two fixtures in the semi-finals, which are scheduled from August 30 onwards.
The final, which will be a five-day affair as compared to the remaining four-day games, will be played from September 6 at the MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. The BCCI decided to shift the final to Chennai to enable spectators to watch the game live. The first four matches will be played on the two grounds at the Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. All fixtures will commence at 9:30am local time.
The six teams, namely North Zone, East Zone, West Zone, South Zone, Central Zone and North East Zone, will be led by Kanhaiya Wadhawan, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Rajat Patidar and Rongsen Jonathan, respectively.
