Turin: Cristiano Ronaldo, who became the first from Portugal to score 100 international goals during his last match against Sweden at the Nations League won the IFFHS World’s Best International Top Goal Scorer 2019 award.
Previously he won the award in 2016 and 2017. In 2018, Baghdad Bounedjah from Al Sadd won the award. Cristiano is also the highest active international goalscorers with India’s Sunil Chhetri and Argentine Lionel Messi in second and third places respectively.
Recently the Juventus star has been on a scoring spree. The Portuguese netted 14 international goals from 10 appearances in 2019. His brace against Sweden took him to 101 goals — just eight short of being the one with most international goals. The record is currently held by former Iranian footballer Ali Daei (109 goals).
