San Francisco: Collin Morikawa has delivered one of the best shots in history which was hardly witnessed by anyone, as it set up an eagle on 16th hole on Sunday, that hauled him to the calmest PGA Championship ever.

He was among seven players tied for the lead on the back nine at Harding Park, as wild as any Sunday in a Major. Morikawa chipped in from 40 feet on the 14th hole to take the lead, and ended it with one swing. On the 294-yard 16th hole, Morikawa hit driver that hopped onto the green and settled 7 feet below the cup.

In the initial stage, Morikawa finished with a bang without any viewers in front of him. He prepared for an eagle one on his way and shut down with a 6-under 64, the lowest final round recorded by a PGA champion in a time span of 25 years, as he made his place among those young stars who took over golf.

It was a year ago, Morikawa finished his degree at a nearby college in California, which is said to be among one of the various hailed college players are prepared to sanction. Now he has three victories under his name which includes a Major, by winning against a world-class lineup on the civic course in San Francisco.

Dustin Johnson had got nothing going when it came to him. Brooks Koepka seemed like everything to him for a third straight PGA Championship. On the other hand, Tiger Woods had taken off before the authorities even tee off.

Until one swing on a hole along the shores of Lake Merced, the Major was always ready for grabs where the tee was moved to persuade players to steer the green or pay the price if they forgot the trees to the right or even the hazard to their left. Morikawa never interrupted that is why the swing was never purer.
