Kolkata: The last day of Round 6 of the I-league saw exciting action throughout the day. Real Kashmir beat Indian Arrows 6-0 in the first match of the afternoon at the Mohun Bagan Ground in Kolkata on Thursday (February 4).

Despite seeing a rather scratchy first half, the hosts opened the scoring through Dipanda Dicka who headed it home from a long ball played out from the back. However, in the process, he clashed with Arrows goalie Syed Zahid badly.

Despite having the majority the possession on the ball, the young guns of Arrows were unable to create something out of it. Lukman Adefemi ghosted into the box, heading it to extend the lead before Haroon Amiri scored the third from a brilliant delivery into the box by Lalrindika Ralte.

The spirit of the Arrows broke down after that Dipanda added his brace shortly after that while Chesterpoul Lyngdoh’s solo effort to add the fifth was the highlight of the game. Basit Ahmed Bhat put the icing on the cake pouncing on a defensive lapse by the visitors before drilling it home to seal full three points. Real Kashmir placed themselves at second behind league leaders Churchill Brothers.

The second game of the day saw RoundGlass Punjab FC beat Tiddim Road Athletic Union (TRAU) 2-0 at the Kalyani Stadium. Despite an even-stevens first-half in terms of creating chances, it was the visitors who went ahead.

Telem Suranjit Singh’s attempted long-range drive was saved by TRAU goalkeeper Soram Anganba but Chencho Gyeltshen slotted it home on the rebound. Punjab turned up the heat in the second-half giving the hosts little respite.

Chencho added a brilliant second goal turning before unleashing a fierce shot giving goalkeeper Anganba absolutely no chance. TRAU tried it hard but were unable to cope with the quality of the visitors. Punjab took full three points to place themselves ninth in the table.
