Kolkata: East Bengal and Behala SS Sporting Club tied 3-3 in a thriller contest of Calcutta Football League 2026 at East Bengal Ground, Kolkata. Manotos Maji’s goal in injury time somehow saved East Bengal from defeat.
Behala SS put pressure on East Bengal from the start. They took the lead just five minutes into the match. Shlok Tiwari scored with a brilliant finish on a perfect cross from the right wing. Behala took advantage of the lack of understanding in the red-yellows’ defense to score the goal.
After conceding a goal, East Bengal tried to attack again. In the 15th minute, Behala goalkeeper Abhijit Kar blocked Akash Hembrom’s header with great skill. However, in the 30th minute, East Bengal equalized through Bijay Murmur’s header from Akash’s extraordinary run and a perfect cross.
However, Behala soon took lead with Shlok completing his brace in 37th minute. The game was stopped for about 40 minutes due to heavy rain and lightning towards the end of the first half.
Soon after the start of second half in 47th minute, Sukuram Sardar’s goal gave Behala 3-1 lead. However, despite getting multiple chances after that, Behala couldn’t increase lead.
East Bengal continued to fight despite falling behind. Mohamed Bilal scored a goal in the 62nd minute to reduce the gap. Then, Behala goalkeeper Avijit Kar made one great save after another to keep the team ahead.
The match went to last phase and injury time was added with score 3-2. Manotos Maji pulled off a heroic equalizer in 91st minute and saved East Bengal from jaws of defeat, keeping their position at top intact.
