Kolkata: Tuhin Sikdar’s goal helped Mehtab Hossain coached Kidderpore SC to halt Mohun Bagan Super Giants for 1-1 draw in CFL 2026 Group stage clash at Mohun Bagan AC Ground, Kolkata.
The match started with series of attack – counter attack on behalf of both teams. Mohun Bagan earned corner in very 4th minute of the game but Raj Basfore’s corner didn’t bear any fruitful results. Kidderpore began attacking after gaining momentum and kept Bagan goalkeeper and defense under pressure in initial 10 minutes.
Mohun Bagan earned free kick minutes later but Kiyan Nassiri’s effort was blocked by Kidderpore keeper Arnendu Dutta. Mohun Bagan started gaining momentum gradually and eventually got first breakthrough when in 27th minute Kiyan marched into the box. When 2 defenders of Kidderpore tried to stop him, he passed the ball in vacant area which Sandeep Malik capitalized and finished wonderfully to give the Mariners 1-0 lead. 5 minutes later, Arnendu Dutta yet again saved a strong shot of Sayan Banerjee who was star of last match, to end first half 1-0.
In the start of second half, Mohun Bagan wasted a vital chance as Suhail Ahmad Bhatt failed to convert an easy cross from Sayan. Kidderpore capitalized and counter attacked a minute later as Kidderpore forward Tuhin Sikdar’s strike in 48th minute levelled the score to 1-1
After this, Mohun Bagan got multiple chance but couldn’t capitalize. In 49th minute, Sandeep Malik’s cross passed over the goalpost. Four minutes later Suhail wasted time after getting through Ball from Sayan, without passing it to Kiyan, wasting another opportunity.
In the 58th minute, Kiyan’s floated ball created a goal opportunity, but Khidirpur’s Vikramjit Singh threw his body and headed it away in exchange for a corner. In the 70th minute, Suhail missed another good opportunity. In the 76th minute, Kidderpore got a free kick in a dangerous place. In the 83rd minute, Sayan’s bicycle kick missed the target. In the 85th minute, Mohun Bagan got a free kick just outside the box, but it didn’t work. In the 92nd minute, Robilal Mandi’s long-range shot missed the target. Sayan, Robi Lal, Kiyan, and Suhail were repeatedly trapped by the thunderous attack of Kidderpore’s defense. In the end, both teams left the field with 1 point and 1-1 draw.
