Cadiz: FC Barcelona were held in a rather unimpressive goalless draw against Càdiz at Neuvo Mirandilla Stadium, and the result put Barcelona coach, Ronald Koeman’s future at the club in question after Barcelona President had fore-warned the coach before the encounter.

“We are responsible for managing the club,” Laporta has told El Chiringuito. “We have more information when it comes to making decisions and we have to consider everything much more.

“It is not a problem for us to make decisions of any kind, and if we have to take them at a certain time, we will take them, [either if they are] economic, sporting or social. ” said the 59 year old before Barcelona paid a visit to Cádiz.

Barcelona had started their League campaign with a 4-2 win over Real Sociedad, with Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia outshining other , it was followed by a 1-1draw against Athletic Bilbao and things went downhill even after the side clinched an unconvincing draw against Getafe before being blasted 3-0 by Bayern Munich in Champions League at home. The Cádiz draw had actually put Ronald Koeman’s future in a blurr after the Dutchman made made some controversial changes in the squad and that garnered a lot criticism and was even established as the reason of the downfall by some.

Even with the warning Laporta had insisted on backing up the coach, but it is unknown where the situation stands now after the underwhelming draw.

“We are behind the coach. [Koeman] is the coach of Barcelona’s first team and what we want is for things to go well for him.

“The coaches, not only Koeman, depend a lot on their results and in the case of Barcelona, [they are judged] every game. But Koeman is our coach and we are behind him now.” Laporta said previously.

Speculations of Ronald Koeman’s departure has already been spiked as Spanish daily MARCA claims Barcelona are interested in bringing club legend Xavi Hernandez to take over Koeman’s job . Xavi has had some impressive stint at Al Sadd and it would be interesting to see how it turns out.
