CAB wins New Zealand’s assurance ahead of India T20 tie

Kolkata: New Zealand has picked Kolkata as its practice location ahead of a two-match series against India, which will kick off a new World Test Championship cycle (WTC).

The Kane Williamson-led team will train at the Jadavpur University second campus pitch in Saltlake before heading to Kanpur for the first Test on November 25.

The New Zealand recee team paid a visit to Eden Gardens today ahead of the the third and final Twenty20 against India. The Kiwi team consisted of Mike Sandle, Team Manager, and Andrew Love, Head of Risk.

They did meet with CAB President Avishek Dalmiya, Hony Secretary Snehashis Ganguly, and other members of the CAB.

“The recee team expressed satisfaction after the visit seeing the facilities and Bio Bubble arrangements norms at the venue, Mr Avishek Dalmiya said.

“We understand the importance of the safety of the players. We have the experience of holding matches in bio-bubble and will make sure that everything is in place,” said Mr Snehashis Ganguly.

The T20I will mark the return of international cricket at Eden Gardens, which last hosted a Day/Night Test between India and Bangladesh before the epidemic hit in November 2019.

The state government has approved a 70% capacity for the opening match, which means that around 40,000 people would be able to attend.

On February 12 of the following year, the Eden will host the West Indies for the third and final match in the ODI series.

Mumbai will host the second and final Test from December 3.
