CAB to host U25 Emerging Players League in October

Kolkata: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) is preparing to organize the U-25 Emerging Players’ League on October 5, with the association fielding a pink team to raise awareness about breast cancer.

CAB Secretary Snehashis Ganguly, Jt Secretary Debabrata Das along with selectors Subhomoy Das, Probal Das, Ajay Das and Jiten Singh will be selecting the teams for this tournament among the CAB teams. The tournament will be a 50-over league format, with the top two teams advancing to the finals.

“The sole objective of this tournament is to provide opportunity to the U25 players before the selection of the Bengal U25 team ahead of the commencement of the BCCI U25 tournaments. We are determined to provide adequate match practice to the best boys from Bengal and this tournament is a step in this direction. CAB has always stood for noble causes and hence this meet will make endeavours to create awareness against Breast Cancer,” said CAB President Avishek Dalmiya.

“The tournament will only feature U25 boys who are sons of the soil either from the probables list of the U25 team or from the players who have done well in the local tournaments. This will help promote and harness homegrown talents and create a bigger pool of players. There will be reserve days for all matches so that there are no abandoned matches because of the climate,” said CAB Secretary Snehashis Ganguly.

Keeping an eye on the weather, the association has chosen to announce the date of the final after all of the matches have been completed, so that no athlete is denied the opportunity to showcase his talent.
