Kolkata: BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly has been admitted to Woodlands hospital with a heart issue on Saturday (January 2). He was admitted to the South Kolkata hospital with chest pain.

“He had a heart issue and is in Woodlands hospital. But is stable will need a procedure confirm hospital sources. Should be out of the woods in the next few hours. I wish him a speedy recovery. @SGanguly9,” senior journalist Boria Majumdar tweeted.

According to sources, earlier on Saturday morning, Ganguly fainted while training at his gym. It was also understood that he was having chest and back pain from Friday (January 1) night.

Currently, Ganguly has been kept in the emergency ward and is stable now. He will soon be shifted to the general ward. Meanwhile, SSKM Hospital cardio specialist Dr. Saroj Mondal is to supervise the whole matter, as per sources.

“He felt dizzy when he was in the gym and he went to Woodlands to get the Tests done. That’s when it came to light that there was a cardiac issue and the hospital has now created a 3 member board with Dr. Saroj Mondal who will perform the procedure. @SGanguly99 get well soon,” Majumdar further tweeted.

Recently, Ganguly had visited Ahmedabad and for the BCCI AGM and was also present during the Cricket Association of Bengal AGM on December 30 at the Eden Gardens.

Meanwhile, Dr Rupali Basu, MD & CEO, Woodlands, has issued a press release giving details about Ganguly’s heath. It said, “Mr Sourav Ganguly, 48 years old, President BCCI, former Captain of Indian Cricket team and eminent personality suffered from chest discomfort while doing treadmill at his home gym.

“He had family history of IHD ØE Ischemic heart disease. When he came to the hospital at 1 pm, his pulse was 70/min, BP 130/80 mm of Hg and other clinical parameters were within normal limits. His ECG showed hyperacute ST segment elevation in inferior leads and lateral leads. Echo showed mild inferior wall hypokynaesia with preserved overall left ventricular function. He is stable haemodynamically. He has received loading doses of dual antiplatelets and statin.”

According to recent developments, Ganguly’s angioplasty has been done. One stain has been installed while there were blockages found on three arteries. One of them had 90 per cent blockage.
