Brazilian midfielder Rafinha Alcantara joins Paris Saint-Germain from Barcelona

Paris: Defending Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have signed Brazilian midfielder Rafinha Alcantara from Barcelona for a reported fee of 2.7m euros with the player penning a three year contract. PSG unveiled the signing on social media. He will wear the no. 12 shirt.

 

The 27-year-old spent the last season at Celta de Vigo on loan from Barcelona making 30 appearances for them. Son of 1994 World cup winner Mazinho and the brother of Thiago Alcantara, the Brazilian started his career at the La Masia academy making his debut for them back in 2011. He represented Spain at youth level but opted for Brazil in a senior career with his brother Thiago going for Spain.

Paris were looking to add more depth in the midfield to challenge for the Champions League again after the loosing in final of the 2019-20 campaign. This their third signing of the deadline day after forward Moise Kean and midfielder Danilo Pereira.
