Sydney : India and Australia played fighting Cricket against each other on Day 2 of 5th Test at SCG, Sydney in Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
Australia started the day with 9-1, Sam Konstas and Marnus Labuschagne at crease.
Skipper Jasprit Bumrah (2/33) gave first breakthrough dismissing Labuschagne (2).
Mohammad Siraj turned the game in India’s favour with double wicket of Konstas (23) & Travis Head (4) in single over and Aussies were on backfoot at 39-4.
Steven Smith (33) & in form youngster Beau Webster (57) notched an important 57 runs partnership before Smith fell to Prasidh Krishna (3/42).
Webster went on building yet another vital 41 runs partnership along with Alex Carey (21).
Nitish Reddy (2/32) bowled another double wicket over, with Webster throwing away his wicket under pressure against Krishna.
Australia were bundled for 181 runs with 4 runs behind India’s score.
Coming to Bat, Indian top order yet again began struggling in front of Scott Boland. He picked important wickets of in form Yashasvi Jaiswal (22), KL Rahul (13) & Virat Kohli (6).
India were struggling on 78-4. However, Rishabh Pant (61) had other plans as the keeper Batter smashed Aussie bowlers all over the park scoring quick fire 61 (33) before falling to Pat Cummins. His innings included 6 Boundaries and 4 Sixes.
By the end of the day, India lost Nistish Reddy (4) too, who was the 4th prey of Boland.
India are now on 141-6, leading by 145 runs, Ravindra Jadeja (8*) & Washington Sundar (6*) at the crease.
