Kolkata: East Bengal’s three-legged spin attack bagged total of seven wickets to defeat Calcutta Customs by 41 runs and registered their third win in a row in Bengal T20 Challenge at Eden Gardens on Thursday (December 3).

East Bengal won the toss and elected to bat first. In a low-scoring match, East Bengal could manage to post 118 losing all wickets in their quota of 20 overs and thanks to the spinners successfully defended the total to bundle out Customs for a paltry 77 runs.

An elated EB skipper Arnab Nandi said, “The team is playing really well, everyone is contributing in some way or other. Our batters have posted bug totals before which was relatively easy for our bowlers to defend but in today’s match where the score was low the bowlers bowled really well, our fielding effort was superb. We are playing as a unit and will hope to carry this momentum forward.”

Earlier, Shreyan Chakroborty and Saikat Banerjee bagged 2 wickets apiece for Customs while Shreevats Goswami was the highest scorer for East Bengal with 20 runs. While defending the low total East Bengal put up a disciplined show in both fielding and bowling department to finish the match with 14 balls left to play.

For East Bengal Sujit Kr Yadav who scored 19 with the bat earlier, picked up 3 for 13 while the other two spinners Arnab Nandi and Akash Pandey bagged 2 wickets apiece. For Customs Prosenjit Das fought a lone battle with 41-ball 33.
