Bengal T20 Challenge: Mohun Bagan stay alive beating Calcutta Customs

Kolkata: A disciplined Mohun Bagan bowling attack along with Writtick Chatterjee’s all-round show ensured that the maidan giants stay alive in Bengal T20 Challenge as they defeated Calcutta Customs by eight wickets on Friday (December 4) at Eden Gardens.

Calcutta Customs won the toss and elected to bat first. Mohun Bagan bowlers lassoed Customs batters with their disciplined bowling to restrict them to a paltry 119/5 in their quota of 20 overs.

While chasing Bagan lost Vivek Singh (16) early but Writtick (41) and skipper Anustup Majumder (40) stayed unbeaten till the end to make that Bagan take 4 points home with 5.2 overs left to play as they finished on 125/2.

Bagan are now placed at fifth with 12 points from 8 matches while Customs slipped to the bottom of the table with as many points as Bagan but Anustup and men are ahead in run rate.

Bagan all-rounder Writtick said, “It was a very crucial victory for us. I am very happy that I performed well in both departments and helped my team earn crucial points. Hopefully we will carry this momentum forward and apply well in our next matces.”

Earlier Bagan bowler Prince Yadav bagged 2 wickets leaking just 18 off his 4 overs while Anurag Tiwary, Writtick Chatterjee and Sunil Kumar Dalal picked up 1 wicket apiece. Chirag Pathak was the highest scorer for Customs with an unbeaten 29 off 26 balls.
