BCCI names six uncapped players for Sri Lanka tour in July

Mumbai: As many as six uncapped players have found their names in the Indian team as BCCI selected a 20-member squad for the upcoming limited-overs tour to Sri Lanka next month. Shikhar Dhawan has been named the captain of the side that will play three ODIs and as many T20Is against Sri Lanka.

Among the uncapped players named in the squad are Varun Chakravarthy, Chetan Sakariya, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana and Krishnappa Gowtham. All have performed well for their respective franchises in the Indian Premier League and been rewarded for that.

Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named the vice-captain of the side while five net bowlers have also been named. The three ODIs are slated for July 13, 16, and 18. The T20Is will be played on July 21, 23 and 25. All the matches will be played in Colombo.
