Bayern Munich clinch Der Klassiker 3-2; Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sane on target

Dortmund: The first Der Klassiker of Bundesliga this season saw a scintillating game as Bayern Munich beat Borrusia Dortmund 3-2 at The Signal Igduna Park on Saturday (November 7). David Alaba, Robert Lewandowski, Leroy Sane were on the scoresheet of the defending champions while Erling Haaland and Marco Reus netted for Dortmund.

Bayern lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Alaba and Jerome Boateng at the heart of the defence. Josua Kimmich along with Leon Goretzka started as a double pivot in the midfield with Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry and Lewandowski taking care of the attack.

Bayern were putting pressure on the home side right from the start causing problems to their defence. But Dortmund took chances whenever they got on the counters. It eventually led to the opener in the 45th minute as fullback Raphael Guerreiro found Marco Reus in the box and the German finished it off with a cheeky finish. But Bayern levelled in the first-half stoppage time with Alaba’s free-kick got deflected finding the back of the net.

In the second half though, Bayern put the foot on the accelerator and took the game away from the home side. Lucas Hernandez’s cross found Lewandowski in the box who headed it past goalkeeper Roman Burki for the lead before they Bayern extended it when Sane found the net with a clinical finish. Haaland got one back for Dortmund but It wasnt enough of them.

The Bavarian side, now at the top of the table will be hoping to continue this form and will face Weder Bremen on November 21st.
