Kolkata : Indian left arm seamer Barinder Sran has announced retirement from all forms of Cricket on August 29.
The 31 years old pacer announced his retirement in social media post.
He said, “As I officially hang up my cricket boots, I look back at my journey with a heart full of gratitude”.
Sran continued, “Cricket has gifted me innumerable and incredible experiences. Fast bowling soon became my lucky charm and opened doors to represent prestigious IPL franchises, ultimately culminating in the highest honor of representing India in 2016”.
“Even though my international career was brief, the memories created will be forever cherished. I am eternally grateful to the almighty for getting me the right coaches and management, who have supported me throughout my journey”, he concluded.
Sran had a very short stint in Indian Cricket team. He made his debut in ODI , 2016, during Australia tour, where he delivered a spell of 3/56 dismissing David Warner, Steve Smith, Aaron Finch. He also trapped George Bailey but was dropped as a result he won Australia the match.
The left armer holds the record of best spell in T20I debut. He delivered a spell of 4/10 debuting against Zimbabwe in the same year.
He played India in 6 ODIs, 2 T20Is, picking up 13 wickets.
In IPL, he represented Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. He played 24 IPL matches & picked 18 wickets.
His stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad was memorable as he played a vital role in winning 2016 IPL Trophy for the franchise. He last played the league in 2019. He lifted the IPL trophy with Mumbai Indians the same year.
The pacer also represented Punjab, Chandigarh in Domestic arena, picking up a total of 32 First Class & 19 List A wickets.
However, his form gradually faded away and slowly disappeared from Cricketing arena. The rise of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Mohammed Shami, T. Natrajan and other experiments with various pacers made Sran a forgotten name in Indian Cricket & their fans.
