Barcelona target Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva this summer

Barcelona: La Liga side Barcelona are ready to make a move to Manchester City’s Portuguese winger Bernardo Silva with a hefty amount by offering him a pivotal role in the side next season.

The European Champion has been a versatile figure for Pep Guardiola’s side in their 2018-19 title-winning campaign and was awarded the club’s Player of the Year award. But the rise of Phil Foden has cut short his game time at the Etihad in the 2019-20 season. He has only started in 23 games for the ‘Citizens’ this season.

Reports say that he has been labelled as Barcelona’s top target for the summer, and the Catalans are willing to surrender their talented right-back Nelson Semedo to bring in the 25 -year-old. Bernardo, most notably, lined up as an interchanging false nine in City’s impressive first-leg victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 back in February.

However, in the second-leg, Foden was placed in a similar position and produced an impressive performance against Real Madrid as City went through to the quarterfinals. Silva came in as a substitute thus showing Pep’s interest on the winger is slowly decreasing.

Silva, who plays on the right-wing and even as an attacking midfielder, is kind off Lionel Messi type. Many are saying he would be a possible replacement to the ‘Little Magician’ who has been producing goods for the last 14 years. This deal is strange but can be a long term benefit for the Catalan giants. Speculations are high, time will tell the future of the Portuguese.
