Kolkata: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that they are thinking of increasing the salary of the national women cricketers. BCB women’s wing chairman Nadel Chowdhury told Cricbuzz that they have proposed the board to raise the salary of women cricketers along with increasing the match fees.

While men cricketers receive BDT six lakh as match fee for a Test along with BDT three and BDT two Lakh for ODIs and T20s respectively, the women receive USD 100 (approximately BDT 8500) as international match fees for ODIs, while it goes down to USD 75 (approximately BDT 6500) for T20Is.

”You have to understand that there is a big difference between men and women’s cricket and we have to admit it. We cannot increase the match fees of women’s cricketers in par with their male counterpart,” said Nadel.

”I agree the amount they what they receive as international match fees (100 USD) is very minimal in the present context and so we have proposed to increase that to USD 400,” he said. “It’s true with this salary certainly women cricketers find hard to survive but we cannot make a drastic change overnight and we are gradually trying to come forward with the different initiatives.”
