Kolkata : Atletico Madrid signed English Midfielder Cornor Gallagher from Chelsea on 5 years deal till 2029 for €42m.
Gallagher, with Chelsea since the age of 8, was a key player for them last season, starring in 37 Premier League games and serving as captain for most of the campaign due to injuries to Reece James and Ben Chilwell.
Despite being offered a new contract by Chelsea’s new manager Enzo Maresca, Gallagher opted for a move to Spain, seeking a fresh challenge in his career.
Chelsea expressed their gratitude to Gallagher for his long-standing commitment to the club, stating, “We wish Conor the very best as he begins a new chapter in his career.”
Conor joined Chelsea in 2018. Out of 72 appearances for Blues, he scored 8 goals. He was the part of their Europa League win in 2018-19 & was also adjourned the Best Academy Player of the same year.
Before that he was part of PL clubs like West Bromwich Albion & Crystal Palace in 2020-21 period then returned back to Chelsea again in 2022.
His good performances in Chelsea earned him England national call in 2021& has been part of their runner up campaign in Euro 2024.
