Madrid: Atlético Madrid announced the signing of Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul from the Italian side Udinese for a reported fee of $35M on Monday on a five-year deal. The Argentine midfielder took the world by awe when he provided the much necessary assist to Angel Di Maria to convert into a goal, as Argentina defeated Brazil to lift Copa America 2021.

“I’ll be joining the Spanish league champion and I know that it is a big responsibility,” Rodrigo said. “It’s a big step in my career.’ I’ll enjoy being under his command because I grew up watching him play with Argentina’s national team,” he said.

Rodrigo had previously played for the Spanish side Valencia before signing with Udinese. He had an impressive season with Udinese registering nine goals and 10 assists in 36 Serie A appearances.

As much as the 27-year-old is excited to join the La Liga side, the reigning Champions are not any less keen about him and it was very evident from the statement released from the club. “A powerful midfielder comes to our club, comfortable in joining the attack and capable of both scoring goals and providing them for his teammates,” wrote Atletico Madrid.
