Bolivia: Argentina started their World Cup qualifiers on a good note, as they managed to win both the games played till now. The Albiceleste picked up an unexpected victory at La Paz against Bolivia in a 2-1 win over the hosts.

Lionel Messi and his team played in the adverse conditions of La Paz and managed to make a comeback after trailing by a goal when Marcelo Moreno scored on 24 minutes and gave the home team the lead.

The high altitude and low oxygen availability clearly showed their effects on the Argentine players. They tried to press high so that they would have to run less, but the loopholes in their defence made them concede the first goal.

Lautaro Martínez scored the equaliser just before halftime on 45 minutes. The goal was hugely important for his team as they went for the break with a tied scoreline and a renewed hope. The second half saw Argentina perform better.

They attacked more and created more chances as Bolivia showed no prowess at all and their attack looked dead. As a result on 79 minutes, Joaquin Correa gave the Argentines the much-needed lead. With just 10 minutes to spare, Argentina did everything to hold on to their one-goal lead.

The final whistles gave Argentina their first victory in La Paz since 2005. The adverse conditions of the stadium made it very difficult but the Men in Blue and White could return with three huge points.
