Kolkata : Champions League football has got more matches on Wednesday as the defending Champions, Bayern Munich will face the sultry Atletico Madrid. It will be the match of the day. Bayern will miss their important teammate Serge Gnabry as he has been tested positive for the Coronavirus. So Bayern might start with the Frenchman Kingsley Coman, and want to kick start their campaign on winning ways. They were the unbeaten side in this competition last season and want to start their campaign in the similar manner.

Atletico Madrid on the other hand are looking good in La Liga. The introduction of Luis Suarez has changed the course of the side. They look more organized in the upfront. Diego Simeone, is confident about the match and in last few meetings his team has always made the Bravarians suffer. In the 2016, Champions League Semi-Finals he knocked out a strong Bayern side tactically. So he knows how to beat them and we might experience a fitting battle between two of Europe’s elite football sides.

Real Madrid will start their campaign too on Wednesday. They will play against Shakhtar Donetsk at the Santiago Bernabeu. They will miss their captain Sergio Ramos due to an injury and manager Zinedine Zidane doesn’t want his leader to miss the El Classico on Saturday. They will be looking forward to their veteran Karim Benzema for goals and even Vinicius Junior will be an exciting player to watch for.

Premier League champions Liverpool will face the Dutch champions, Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena. Virgil van Dijk’s ACL injury will be an area of concern for Jurgen Klopp’s men. They will miss his presence in the defence. Even Joel Matip was not 100% fit after the Merseyside derby. Even they are missing their first team goalkeeper Allison Becker due to an injury and he is expected to return in the mid of November. So it won’t be an easy game for the Reds. They will be dependent on their iconic front three i.e Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino for goals. Firmino is having a hard time as he haven’t scored for his club in a long time now. But he was the last scorer for his club in the Champions League last season before getting knocked out in the hands of Atletico Madrid. It won’t be easy but after all they are a champion side with too much of character to showcase.

Manchester City on the other hand will face FC Porto in their first match. They had a good game last Saturday against Arsenal. But their defence has always been an area of concern. Sergio Aguero was back from the last match and will feature on this match too. But Pep Guardiola have to make decisions about his defensive choices, a serious area of concern. It will be a match to watch for as how City trap an organized Porto side.

Inter Milan had a set back in the Milan derby on Saturday. But they are a very good side with too many options for manager Antonio Conte, so before facing Mönchengladbach the team needs to find the right rhythm to hold on to it. No doubt Romelo Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are the stand out players to watch for and likely to score for the I Nerazzurri.

On other matches RB Salzburg will face Locomotiv Moscow. Midtjylland will face Atlanta, while Olympiacos will face Marseille.
