The 27-year-old defensive midfielder came through the youth ranks of the Rojiblancos. After brief loan spells at Mallorca and Almeria, he cemented his place under the eyes of Diego Simione and making 185 appearances across all competitions. He was part of the Atletico squad that won the 2018 UEFA Europa League.

Considered as one of the best defensive midfielders in the game, Partey has both physical and technical attributes that would help him to dictate tempo game, winning the ball back and spraying passes all over the pitch.

Such qualities can really help Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta who had his problem of having a good defensive midfielder who can dominate the game in the middle of the park. This signing will give the Gunners a serious boost to challenge the top four of the points table in the Premier League. Thomas will wear the no.18 shirt.
