Dubai: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has several records to his name in all three formats of the game. The top-order batsman, who is a run-machine when in shape, has also been described by many former legends as of one of the best to have ever played the game.

On Monday (October 5), Kohli added another milestone to his hat. He became the first Indian batsman and the seventh in the world to surpass 9000 T20 runs. Kohli is already the highest run-scorer in IPL history with 5,502 runs in 181 games (earlier to this match against the Delhi Capitals).

Before the start of this match on Monday, Kohli had 8990 runs in T20s with five hundreds and 65 T20 half-centuries to his name. He hasn’t had the best of the starts with the bat in this season of the IPL even though RCB have won three out of four games.

The others ahead of Kohli are West Indians Chris Gayle (13,296 runs) and Kieron Pollard (10,370 runs), Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik (9,926 runs), former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum (9,922 runs) and Australians David Warner (9,451 runs) and Aaron Finch (9,148 runs).

Another Indian who is chasing in on the 9000 run-mark in T20 cricket is the India vice-captain and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma.
