Kolkata: India will face five-time FIFA World Cup winners Brazil in FIFA international friendly match on Saturday (October 3) at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata, and grand preparations, decorations have already been completed there.
India will be high on confidence in the match against Brazil after playing out a 1-1 draw against World Cupper Panama in their last match.
Like Brazil, Panama also featured in the FIFA World Cup earlier this year and were more than 90 places above 138th Ranked India in the FIFA rankings, but despite that, the North American side struggled against India in Bengaluru. Panama were coming after facing England, Croatia, Ghana in World Cup 2026.
Indian fans will expect the Blue Tigers to come up with another valiant fight against the Brazilian side, which includes the likes of Vinicius Junior, Endrick, Marquinhos, Gabriel and Estêvão, among others. Earlier, Raphinha was ruled out due to injury.
India will have high hopes from forward Ryan Williams, who scored a goal against Panama. Indian players will certainly look to impress with their game against arguably the greatest football team in the world with whom there’s lot of Ranking and gap difference. India are 138th Rank while Brazil who’re 5 times World Cup champion are 5th Ranked.
Brazil have asked the organisers to allow them to make 11 substitutions. Earlier, Brazil agreed to use maximum of 8 substitutions but changed the decision later. This move from Ancelotti is to try out and give match time to all new players in the game.
