Brazil team lands in Kolkata, receives traditional Indian welcome

Kolkata:  The five-time FIFA World Cup champions Brazil have arrived in Kolkata, bringing a wave of excitement to the city ahead of their much-awaited international friendly against India on October 3 at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan.

Led by head coach Carlo Ancelotti and featuring stars such as Vinícius Júnior, Endrick and Estêvão, the Brazilian squad touched down at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport at 8:38 PM on Thursday.

Despite restricted access at the airport, the excitement among the fans was clearly visible. Supporters gathered with large Brazil flags and jerseys, eager to catch a glimpse of the iconic team as they arrived in the city.

The squad was escorted under tight security from the airport and reached their hotel at 9:34 PM. The sight of the Brazilian team travelling through Kolkata in their green-and-yellow team bus, adorned with the Brazil crest, gave the October 3 fixture an added sense of occasion.

A large number of fans had gathered at the hotel as well, hoping to welcome their heroes. While the security arrangements ensured that the players could make their way inside safely, supporters still managed to express their affection for the team from a respectful distance.

The players were greeted by Kolkata’s warm reception with broad smiles, with several members of the squad giving a thumbs-up as they made their way into the hotel, reflecting their delight at the welcome they received.

The arrival of the Brazilian squad has further amplified the anticipation in Kolkata, with the city now firmly in the grip of football fever. As the countdown to October 3 continues, fans across the city eagerly await the moment when the five-time world champions take the field at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan for what promises to be a landmark footballing occasion.
