Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli back in action, Auqib Nabi earns maiden call as India announce squad for West Indies ODI series

Kolkata : BCCI Men’s Selection Committee has announced India’s squad for the upcoming white-ball home series against the West Indies.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has been picked in Shubman Gill led India’s squad for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, with KL Rahul named vice captain in Shreyas Iyer’s absence. Hardik Pandya has missed out, while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj return to the ODI setup. Fans will be able to witness Ro-Ko show yet again.

Rishabh Pant was not picked as the second wicketkeeper, with the selectors opting for Dhruv Jurel alongside Rahul. Pant will instead lead the Rest of India against Ranji Trophy champions Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup.

India have also handed opportunities to Naman Dhir and Auqib Nabi, who have been included in the ODI squad as the selectors continue to look at different options ahead of next year’s ODI World Cup.

Ruturaj Gaikwad also returns and very likely to bat at number four as Shreyas will be out for the Asian Games.

In absence of Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling attack features several strong names including Gurnoor Brar, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj. Auqib Nabi has been called-up to the squad for the first time.

The selectors of also added Nitish Kumar Reddy into the squad, who had previously been named in the T20I squad for the Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.

The three-match ODI series against the West Indies begins in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, followed by matches in Guwahati and Mullanpur.

India’s ODI team: Shubman Gill [C], Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul [VC], Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Naman Dhir.

India vs West Indies ODI Series fixture (all matches to be played at 2 PM IST) :

1st ODI – 27th September, Trivandrum

2nd ODI – 30th September, Guwahati

3rd ODI – 3rd October, New Chandigarh.
