Kolkata: East Bengal, after winning Durand Cup 2026 defeated Kalighat Milan Sangha 1 day later at CFL 2026 with margin of 1-0 at East Bengal Ground. In previous 2 occasions, East Bengal tied the matches but now they’re back to winning ways. Manotos Maji scored the lone goal of the game.
The Red and Yellow brigade now have 17 points from 7 matches behind Bhawanipur FC who have 21 points in 9 games.
East Bengal, however, had to wait until the 84th minute for the only goal of the match. However, if they had made the most of the opportunity, they could have easily won by five or six goals. If the attack had failed to divide the ball, the ball hit the post and the bar, and if Kalighat goalkeeper Ranjan Soren had not made a good save, East Bengal could have easily won this match by a larger margin. Kalighat attacked several times, but could not put the ball in East Bengal’s net.
Neither team could score in the first half. However, East Bengal had several chances. Kalighat’s Ranjan saved the team by blocking shots from Chaku Mandi and Bijay Murmu. He saved at least three-four sure goals.
Finally, Kalighat’s resistance broke towards the end of the match. The ball that came from East Bengal’s corner was caught by a Kalighat defender. The referee ordered a penalty. Experienced Manotos Maji made no mistake in successfully converting it into a goal in 83rd minute.
Bijay Murmu could have scored yet another goal for East Bengal but he failed to score in an empty goal.
None the less, East Bengal won 1-0 against Kalighat Milan Sangha to grab vital points.
