The inaugural edition of the Shooting League of India (SLI) has already sparked massive interest among shooting enthusiasts, with over 400 athletes from across the globe registering for the event. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), which is organising the league, confirmed the surge in participation, calling it a landmark moment for Indian shooting.
Scheduled to be the first-of-its-kind professional league in the sport for the country, the SLI has attracted shooters from more than 20 countries, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran, Hungary, Croatia, Azerbaijan, the United Kingdom, Australia, Grenada, Italy, Austria, Serbia, the USA, Spain, Thailand, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway, San Marino, and Romania, among others.
The league aims to give India’s shooting ecosystem a structured competitive platform similar to cricket’s IPL or wrestling’s Pro League, bringing in both domestic and international talent under one roof. Speaking about the encouraging response, NRAI President Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo said, “We are truly delighted by the overwhelming number of registrations we have received. This level of interest from both Indian and international shooters validates our vision for the Shooting League of India. We believe this league will elevate the sport’s profile and provide much-needed exposure to emerging talents.” The SLI is expected to serve as a stepping stone for young shooters to gain competitive experience and global exposure while also giving Indian audiences a chance to witness top-tier shooting action live.
With over 400 registrations and counting, the Shooting League of India is off to a promising start. As it prepares to launch its inaugural season, the league holds the potential to revolutionize the landscape of shooting sports in India and inspire the next generation of sharpshooters
