Kolkata : Indian star pacer Mohammad Shami has been in a long hiatus since World Cup 2023 Final due to leg injury.

However, Indian fans’ wait might end as Mohammad Shami is expected to comeback soon. His recent Instagram posts & some videos also show that he’s toiling hard in the nets & his hunger for return.

He also wrote in a post, “Ball in my hand and obsession in my heart, ready to turn the game”.

On other hand, several reports say that Shami is expected to make a comeback in India’s home series against Bangladesh, starting from 19 September.

However, Shami would have to prove his fitness in Duleep Trophy, starting from September 4.

Even Ajit Agarkar, Indian selector, clarified about Shami’s possible return in a press conference 2 days back, ” We more or less know who the guys are, there are some injuries at the moment and hope they will be back up. Shami has started to bowl, which is a good sign. September 19 is the first Test (against Bangladesh) and that was always the goal. I don’t know if that is his timeline for recovery, will have to ask the guys at the NCA about that”.

Shami’s return will thus largely depend on his fitness , keeping in mind the major ICC events coming up in long term next year like WTC Final 2025 , Champions Trophy 2025.

Shami last played an international game in ICC ODI World Cup Final against Australia. He picked a record 24 wickets in that tournament.
