Dambulla : Thailand defeated Malaysia by 22 runs at Rangiri Stadium, Dambulla to secure 1st win of Women’s Asia Cup 2024.
Defending 134 runs, Thai bowlers started turning the game from 11 overs when Malaysia opener Winifred Duraisingam (22), who built 68 runs opening partnership with Wan Julia (52) , got out.
Thai completely turned the game in their favour picking regular wickets and stopping the run flow. Julia’s run out completely pushed Malaysia in backfoot and Thailand ultimately won the game by 22 runs, as Malaysia managed to score only 111-8 (20).
In 1st innings, Nannapat Koncharoenkai (40) helped Thailand reach 133-6 (20). Malaysia did well enough to stop them to this total with like of Mahirah Izzati Ismail (3/16).
Nannapat was adjourned the Player of The Match for her knock.
