Mumbai: After Mumbai Indians upset Delhi Capitals in their final game of the season on Saturday, Royal Challengers Bangalore qualified for the Indian Premier League 2022 playoffs. Coming into the game, the arithmetic was simple: DC needed to beat the Mumbai Indians in order to make the playoffs.

They would have been equal in the league table with the Faf du Plessis-led team with 16 points from 14 games, but a significantly higher runrate would have seen them through.

In the build-up to the game, Royal Challengers Bangalore did not disguise their emotions and requested Mumbai Indians for a favour via their social media accounts. After RCB defeated Gujarat Titans, the team started supporting Mumbai Indians. Even the team included their fans to cheer for Mumbai against Delhi.

The stadium was filled with ‘RCB, RCB’ chanting as Mumbai crushed Delhi’s dreams of finishing in the top four. Even the cameras saw a group of Bangalore fans rejoicing on Mumbai’s victory at the legendary Wankhede stadium.

The RCB camp were keenly following the game and also updated their social media handle time to time in favour of Mumbai.

RCB burst out in joy and relief after MI defeated DC and celebrated their win.

RCB will now travel to Kolkata to play Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator on 25 May.
